GRIFFEY30
Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, expanded to all 30 clubs. Play it right here in your browser.
Two players, two devices: play a friend anywhere.
How does this work?
- Tap Play Ball and choose your copy of Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball (SNES, USA). A .sfc, .smc or .zip file all work.
- The site checks the file and adds the 30-team update to it, right here on your device. Your ROM is never uploaded anywhere.
- Play! Your device remembers the game, so next time it's one tap. Your season saves and your place in the game are kept too.
All 30 teams play in Single Game, World Series and Season, which has today's divisions, a new schedule, standings and the playoffs. The team eras (press Select on the team screen) are in Single Game and World Series.
New in 2.0, Franchise keeps your club going year after year: players age and retire, real prospects get called up, and the game remembers its champions. Hold Select and press A on Today's Game to simulate a game.
The site doesn't provide the game itself: you need your own ROM file.
Questions and answers
FRANCHISE
- How do I start a franchise?
- On the game-type menu, choose FRANCHISE (it took ALL-STAR's place; the Home Run Derby is still there). Pick a club and a season length: FULL, MEDIUM or SHORT. FRANCHISE, CONTINUE SEASON picks up where you left off, and you can switch clubs between seasons.
- Do I have to play every game?
- No. Hold Select and press A on Today's Game's PLAY icon to simulate your game, the same way the rest of the league's games are played. It works in the playoffs too. A SHORT season sims in a few minutes.
- How do players change from year to year?
- After the World Series, every player ages a year. Each one has a hidden peak and his own rate of growth and decline: young players improve, most peak in their late twenties, and veterans slip, some faster than others. Ratings are then re-ranked across the league on the game's own 1 to 10 scale, so the league stays balanced and no club runs away with it.
- Who retires?
- Mostly older players. Stars hang on a little longer, and struggling veterans leave sooner. About 35 to 70 players retire each year.
- Where do new players come from?
- First, real minor-league prospects: 300 of them, ten per club, from Triple-A, Double-A and High-A, rated from their 2026 seasons, with their real looks. They come up when their club has a spot. When a club runs out of prospects, made-up young players arrive instead. Each club has two sets of them and takes turns, so new players keep coming for as long as you play (tested over 80 seasons). A made-up name can come back about 40 years after the first one came up.
- Can I trade players or sign free agents?
- Not yet. Players stay with their clubs until they retire. Trades and free agency are the top ideas for a future update. Tell me what you'd want most!
- Where is my franchise saved?
- In the game's battery save, which this site keeps on your device (Options has a download button). A franchise is saved separately from a regular Season.
ON THE FIELD
- Does Shohei Ohtani pitch or hit?
- Both, since 2.1. The cartridge gives each player one job, so Ohtani has two places on the Dodgers: he's their DH and a starter in their rotation. In a franchise, the two retire together.
- Is there a designated hitter?
- For today's clubs, in both leagues, as in MLB since 2022 (Kyle Schwarber is the Phillies' DH). Clubs in the ORIGINAL, 1994 and 1998 styles keep their era's rule, so National League pitchers bat for them.
- Why do some new ballparks look like old ones?
- The cartridge has 18 ballfields, and every new park borrows the closest one. Target Field, Nationals Park and PNC Park use Cleveland's (Jacobs Field, today's Progressive Field). The stadium picture and the crowd size are the real park's.
PLAYING HERE
- My controller's buttons are mixed up.
- Some controllers, like many USB SNES-style pads, number their buttons their own way. Open Options and choose Set up a controller (it's in the game's menu too), then press each button it asks for. The site remembers it.
